We went to the Talleys factory because we were learning about sea life and fish.
We ate scones and had to wear blue things on our feet to protect them from the water
It was really fun.

As part of our Making a Living off the Sea unit we visited Talleys’ fish factory.
We had to put on white coats, hats to cover our heads and little blue slippers to cover our shoes. We had to do this to prevent any contamination with the fish.
We were taken around the chiller and saw many different fish species all waiting to be filleted before being sent to markets around the world. We didn’t know there were that many different types of fish that can be caught in our region.
We saw the huge building that is full of ice. The ice is used by the fishing boats to keep the fish as fresh as possible.
We were really lucky to be given scones with cream and jam in the big canteen Talleys workers use.
It was a very interesting visit and we learnt a lot.
